Trolley 143

The first trolley for a while to be taken at the Creationists' Residence in East Street (known to some as Creation Heights, after the fashion for such names in San Francisco. We also have a few such over here, among our newer houses. See, for example, reference 3).

After return to the special needs department, I came across some fine snakes' head fritillaries in the garden at the north western end of Middle Lane, much larger than ours. I wondered whether it was all down to age and size of plant, with older plants producing bigger flowers. There was also the consideration that these fritillaries were in a flower bed, while ours are in grass.

Fritillary

Most of the daffodils in the new daffodil bed have come up blind this year, once again. Contrariwise, the tulips in the same bed seem to be breeding and coming up fine, with flower heads. So what do the tulips know which the daffodils don't?

The snowdrops and winter aconites are also missing, but the snake head fritillaries seem to be doing alright, as illustrated. Maybe they are breeding too.

PS: maybe there is a lonely aconite leaf head showing through, just below and to the right of the fritillary front middle. But no flower bud to be seen, at least not yet.

Fritillary

The fritillaries planted in the margins of the new daffodil bed are still there, unlike the snowdrops and winter aconites which seem to have completely vanished.
