Up early to a bright morning, so we thought to take ourselves off to Herald Copse to see how the snowdrops there were getting on, almost exactly a year since the last such errand. See reference 1. Perhaps, as we are getting on, I should put a perpetual entry in the calendar on my telephone to make sure that we don't miss out.
Nonsuch Park had clearly had a good bit of rain, but was looking very well under the early morning - say 1030 - winter sun. And the snowdrops were much further ahead than I had expected; not quite full-on, but well out, and looking very well indeed. We speculated, without making much progress, on how many different varieties were represented, with the Saturday DT gardening section devoting (so I was told) entire pages to such matters from time to time.
Telephone not really up to this sort of nature photography, with the snap above serving well enough as a souvenir, but not really capturing the scene. Perhaps for that, you have to be there.
PS: on entry greeted by a very low flying Chinook, heading northwest. So low that it looked absolutely huge. Odd how there only seems to be one supplier of such things in the western world. Will the Chinese have a go?
