Terminal

I was intrigued yesterday by this shop sign in Castle Parade, on what used to be the Organ Inn junction on the A24 on the Ewell by-pass, more or less gmaps reference 51.35396,-0.2461903.

The imagination ran riot on the wireless terminal solutions which might be offered by an undertaker. Was he offering to send your image over some divine wifi network for 3D printing at the Pearly Gates, to save you the bother of getting there in the flesh?

Sadly, gmaps Street View reveals a more prosaic truth. Wireless Terminal Solutions was doing business from these premises before the funeral services arrived, with these last not bothering to tidy up the fascia. Not terribly encouraging.

A bit further down the road they were ringing the changes at St. Mary's, Ewell, but it is clearly going to be some time before I get to grips with this change ringing business. It sounded tuneful in some odd sort of way, but I would have been hard put to say what was going on. Perhaps next time I will go in and see if they can offer a diagram or a score. An oddity in that the sound of the bells was much clearer in some parts of the road going past than others: the flow of sound around the space was clearly quite complicated.

PS: the locksmith from whom I bought our keybox is visible left. A good sturdy box, a little let down by its rubber casing.
