Economist

The old theatre was not just the setting for screenings of 'Zulu', remembered in the post before last, but also that for the introductory lectures in economics from Professor Alan Day, more or less compulsory for all the many undergraduate students of economics. Lectures usually very full.

Also that for Frank Zappa falling off the stage. He may have broken something, but reference 1 does not help on that particular point

The seats, with their sturdy folding book rests, are probably still the same, but I think that they must have been recovered at some point. Plus the dingy old paint of the late sixties - institutional brown or yellow or some such - had been replaced by a bright modern white. I dare say the AV gear has come on a bit too.

PS: I believe that the professor was the author of the standard, basic text on economics of the sixties. Now vanished from the shelves of amazon and only a thin presence on those of abebooks. Sic transit gloria mundi. Or have I conflated him with another professor, one Lipsey?
