Celandines

Sonmething else which was off to an uncertain start this year, at least in our back garden. Now, I think, as good as they are going to get.

They continue to impress with the way that they can fight their way to the top of the heap in what otherwise might have been thought to be unhelpful surroundings.

The stalks are either nettles - which used to thrive but which do not like the now prevailing shade - or carex pendula - which does not seem to mind, being common in the undergrowth in wet woods. See, for example, reference 1.
