Brother Gill

Having  been on a Gill quest recently (for which see, for example, reference 1), I was pleased by the inclusion in Saturday's DT of a tube map prepared by his brother Max. I was particularly taken with the serpent in the Serpentine.

Maybe we will make it down to Ditchling (reference 2) to buy the poster version. Or even the tea towel.

Too old now to cycle up to the beacon, but I believe one or both of the sprogs has done it, and I dare say we will be able to manage in the car. After all, we did make it with FIL. And we did buy some quite good white bread, old style, from a baker in Ditchling Road on the other side of the hill. Maybe we ought to check whether he still exists, with proper English style bakers doing proper white split tins being quite hard to find these days. With my own attempts to make the stuff having been something of a failure. Edible, but not the real thing at all.

See reference 3 for Ditchling; more than eight years ago now.
