Fred the shred

I have been prompted by coverage of a performance artist who shall not be named to make a small donation to government. A donation which is very ecological as it winds up as compost and which incurs no transactions charges. I thought about snapping it while it went through the shredder, but decided I would probably get that wrong and that it would be best to press the button after. Which is what has now happened.

I feel sure that I have noticed doing such a thing before, but the best I can do is notice of thinking about doing such a thing at reference 1.

From there to Sir Nicholas who has done his deal with the devil and is now taking £1m a year from Facebook. Furthermore, the Telegraph is pleased to tell me that having once been a declared atheist, he went on to preach about Christian values at his local church, while his wife is a full-on Catholic. See reference 2. From which I find that Google Chrome, the Daily Telegraph and Sykes Holiday Cottages between them see fit to remind me, by means of a targeted advertisement, where I went to on holiday recently, putting up a picture of the very place. Much good may it do them.

From there to Sir Magnus, the perfect spy of the television drama of that name. A symbol for the decline of moral standards among our ruling classes.

From there to one John Suffolk who jumped from government to Huawei for an undisclosed sum. Presumably rather less than Sir Nicholas as he did not go to a fancy school and only got to know all the great and the good rather later in life. See reference 3.

PS: I might also record that at around 1500 this afternoon, it was quite hot enough on our back patio to snooze in the sun. Global warming has arrived during the second half of October.
