Drive 2

The wheelbarrow business noticed at reference 1 marked the start of our treating ourselves to a new drive. With the old drive regularly patched over its eighty years of service but now showing its age.

My contribution was to lift, wash and bag the shingle, quite possibly more work than the cost of new shingle would justify if I were paying myself, but I am saving the planet.

Also demonstrating along the way how many different tools one can deploy for an apparently simple job. I dare say one could manage without, but with one can feel very superior.

From the top, pick axe, small hoe, kneeler, secateurs (to cut out ivy roots), shovel, round sieve (elderly), large rake (elderly), gardening gloves, bucket, small rake (Wolf), gardening gloves, rectangular seive (large), concreting tray, the wheelbarrow with which we kicked off, watering can, hose and gardening shoes, now doing service as labouring boots. Not to mention the two builder bags out the back, now holding the cubic metre or so of shingle. And the ramp on which to get the wheel barrow up and over the half filled bags.

PS: the complicated reference being evidence of forgetting to give a title to a blog post, evidence which can only be got rid of by deleting the post and starting again. Not a big deal but, nonetheless, not something I often do.
