There used to be a large advertising hoarding between platforms 3 and 4 at Raynes Park. Now missing, but I don't know whether it was the wind or the workmen that took it off.
The point of interest being the damage done to one of the supports. One might have thought that timber which was certainly ventilated and was probably treated would have managed better.
As it happens, I was saying to someone only yesterday, that some of the posts that my father put in to support his cordons lasted for as long as thirty years. But then they had the benefit of being stood in creosote for a few days before being put in the ground. Now, imagine, quite forbidden. Maybe their being entire rather than sawn also helped.
