New purpose

BH did not feel that the newspaper clamping of reference 1 was a good use of scarce resources and the two sheets of mesh have now been redeployed to stop cats and other small animals from falling into our mini-ponds. A bonus may be the support provided for the lilies in the largest mini-pond, the one at the top of the snap left, perhaps resulting in a more luxurious growth.

As it happened, with this being managed without needing to cut the mesh at all, and so not exposing even the cut ends to rust.

It also happened that my telephone had a lot of trouble with this mesh, particularly when the sun came out from behind the clouds. It only managed to get a proper grip in about one shot out of four, quite the reverse of its usual performance. Shiny metal grids - including those making up trolleys - do seem to be a problem. Perhaps its algorithm can't decide what to focus on, the grid or what is behind it. Perhaps future incarnations will blot out grids altogether on the grounds that they are noise rather than signal - which might, after all, be true in some contexts.
