Stop press

Epsom might boast a Tier 1 Sainsbury's store at Kiln Lane, but this Tier 1 store could not manage a Guardian shortly after 1100 this morning. At least, I could not find one among what looked like a great sea of Sun's and Star's. But I could find the international edition of the New York Times, at £2.20 a shade dearer than the Guardian.

Now inspected and found to be a good read, with good foreign coverage, as one might expect. Interesting articles about, for example, redistribution of income in Finland, something that Corbyn the Crow might do well to brush up on, and the liberal stance on matters LGBT in the Phillipines, otherwise a strongly Catholic country (along with Mexico, another country with a big population and taken over, for a while, by the Spaniards).

PS: strong smell from the hawthorn flowers as I cycled back along Horton Lane, gently uphill, for the first time for a while. Not something one notices from our own front garden effort, not unless one gets into the sheltered spot in front of the front door, not a door we very often use. Tradesmen's entrance, as it were. While this snap was taken from the road.

Reference 1: http://psmv2.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/hawthorne.html. From a different angle and in fuller bloom then than we have above. 2014 was clearly a good year for our hawthorn, but 2018 is coming on. Last year, as I recall, was not a good year.
