Back on the ramp at Waterloo, after the cheese hunt, with cheese in the trusty bag from the Epsom branch of TK Maxx in the carrier. Not bought for that purpose at all, but it serves very well. Now into its sixth year and still going strong and not a stitch out of place. Clearly a flashy brand, worth the extra money. See references 1 and 2.

Reference 2: https://www.ospreyeurope.com/gb_en/. I had not realised that this was a Californian company, born in 1974, when I was just starting out as a government statistician. A website so arranged that I cannot reach the original, US version. Also a website which seems to be more into backpacks than luggage generally.
Reference 3: https://www.ospreylondon.com/. Later: diligent search turns up another osprey, a much more likely looking one and nothing to do with California. Perhaps, if I can't afford a new bag, a new leather belt, a snip at £95? Not the sort of site that I would normally use at all - although I do have to admit to a wallet from Mulberry, the only one that I could find that was plain and decent, indirect support for the old adage about women's clothes that simple but classy costs a lot more than flashy. Something similar has been said about music: in slow and apparently simple music there is nowhere to hide, while small mistakes get lost in music which is rushing about all over the place.
