The composite construction of the leg is clearly visible, as is its not very traditional relation to the top. In the olden days the top of the leg supported the top of the table from underneath, clearly a much sounder arrangement than this one. Also a lot more hygienic, which one might have thought was a consideration in a restaurant mainly patronised by older people.
The top is also composite, I think veneer. I imagine that the core of the top is a sheet of half inch chipboard or plywood, tastefully done up with oak veneer and trim.
Altogether very fake. Don't look too bad to the casual glance from a distance, but irritating to sit at.
