The rope unwound and hanked. I forgot to untwist the rope as I unwound it, hence the rather messy hank.
Unwound, about six lengths of the back garden, so the answer to the examination question posed in the last post should be of the order of 200m.
Given the disorderly size of the hank, I used a short, separate length of rope to tie it up with, rather than my usual - and more proper - technique of tying up the hank with the end of the rope being hanked.
The trunk of the ash tree suspected of ash die back can be seen just to the right of the suspending bit of blue. But no word yet from the Forestry Commission. See reference 1.
