Not clear why this flag was at half mast today (Thursday), a day when most flags in the area were not.
At the time that I snapped it, I was sure that it was something to do with St. Martin's in the Fields, but their web site is not saying anything about it - and for a few minutes I lost faith. But Street View reveals a flagpole just behind the peak of the portico.
No ducks to be seen anywhere, unlike the occasion noticed at reference 1, just about a month ago. And there did not seem to be that many holiday makers about (at around 1300), although without actually counting, it is hard to be sure. And of those that were there, there were plenty from the far east.
