Fresh start

Further to the last post, a fresh start on Tuesday morning has done the business, with the new searches covering both psmv2 and psmv3, with the cutover between them being early February 2016.

I tried various permutations of Brading, graveyard, grave and graves and eventually ran down the missing posts in July 2016 at reference 1 and reference 2, two years ago rather than one year ago. Turning up the famous Earwicker on the way, at reference 3, a reminder than one does not want one's search to be spot on every time as a bit of noise often adds value. Something like cooking, with a modest amount of random variation in an often repeated recipe (in my case bread) eventually leading to improvement.

And as they are always reminding us in ITV3 murder mysteries, and as Simenon is always reminding me in his Maigret stories, the key to successful searching is a proper combination of flair and method, and one can nearly always put a failure to find down to a failure of method, at least after the event. Flair is flashy and fast - but distinctly unreliable.

Google proper, rather than the cut down version provided in blogs, would probably have done a better job on graveyard, grave, graves, gravestones and so on, probably working with the roots as well as the branches, probably needing less searches. Perhaps later today I will check what it turned up for 'blogspot psmv3 brading graves' in the snap above. A check complicated by the fact that Google searches are context sensitive, that Google knows me and knows where I am, and seems to use both bits of knowledge to qualify my searches.

For the moment I just observe that the third hit is a false positive, with 'branding' appearing to have matched 'brading' and with 'psmv' or 'psmv.3' appearing to have matched 'psmv3'. With one meaning of 'psmv' being 'le plan de sauvegarde et de mise en valeur', perhaps a bit of jargon from the world of heritage. Nothing to do with me at all.
