Trolley 158

The first trolley for well over a month, extracted from the stream running down Longmead Road. First spotted earlier in the week, actually recovered yesterday, Wednesday. See reference 1.

On the way there with my bag of kit, noticed that the orange-yellow Lamborghini has now returned to its home in Lower Court Road, its new driveway having been completed. See reference 2. Perhaps the poweder blue, lady's Range Rover will be coming back too? See reference 3.

On down Longmead Road, to find a new tent dweller at the bottom of the garden of the King's Church, the evangelical lot on the other side of the stream. The last chap that tried it was rapidly moved on by nocturnal trouble makers. Far too visible from the path to my mind: you need to be more or less invisible if you don't want to attract such unwanted attentions. See references 4 and 5.

In the stream
Took several swings of the hook to get the trolley up the bank, with the first swing having lodged the hook under the shelf to the drain visible middle left. Pole not long enough and it took a while to dislodge it. Both of the two passers by - one old lady and one young family - had something friendly to say about it.

Recovered
I hadn't brought cleaning gear - bucket, brush etc - and the plan was to take it home to clean it up before returning the trolley to Kiln Lane.

Cleaned up
Took about an hour to get it reasonably clean with bucket, brush and watering can. Not perfect but probably good enough. It would take a careful shopper to notice, a careful housewife. Possibly making quite a fuss if she did notice, especially if she workout out that the bits of grot still there came from a stream running down the side of an industrial estate.

Casualty
Sadly, two of the Scots pines in the grove behind Screwfix look like to have succumbed to the heatwave. Will they come back to life? How long will it take whoever is responsible to remove the dead trees? Passed a chap who appeared to have charge of both a regular bicycle and a tandem, just by the underpass, a chap who turned up a few minutes later at the Kiln Lane Halfords, less the regular bicycle. I did not get to work out what was going on.

Reject
Not sure if Sainsbury's would want this one back, tucked behind the rusting camper van in Stones Road. Council is now aware of the van, so maybe they will take the trolley with it. See reference 6. Didn't work out how to get a decent shot, given the bright afternoon sun, without me in it. Note sun hat, now redeployed after a week of carrying a sun shade.

Celebrated a short time later with white pudding from Slomers and white wine from Slovenia. Good gear, although slightly puzzled as to why the wine is described as dry. See references 7 and 8.
