First butterbur of the season noticed down Longmead Road the other day, with fully formed inflorescence but not actually in flower. Roughly the same time as the first sighting at reference 2, rather later than that at reference 1, that is to say last year.
It took me a while to track down the name, starting off with bugloss which is something quite different, albeit still a plant. And being reduced to flipping through one of FIL's flower books.
Which all goes to show that my brain files things alphabetically, like a dictionary.
