A couple of rather inferior tally sticks on show in the museum at the Charterhouse. Possibly home made affairs from the early 17th century. Not like the rather grander ones cut for the Exchequer and now kept in the National Archives at Kew.
Pepys knew all about such things, and their name lingered on inside the computer system which tracked government spending plans in the 1980's. May still linger on for all I know.
