As a footnote to the establishment of a series of fake posts at reference 1, a short list of notable fakes from the past. To be updated from time to time as I remember about them.
http://psmv2.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/diy-time-at-network-rail.html - the sturdy plastic tool box on the platform at Epsom Station, faked up as rough sawn timber.
http://psmv3.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/poles.html - the imitation wood cladding to a steel telephone pole.
http://psmv3.blogspot.co.uk/2017/01/suburban-bliss.html - the fake fire in our front room.
http://psmv3.blogspot.co.uk/2016/11/orgo.html - the fake pillars decorating the front of houses in Islington. A common enough architectural motif, been around for centuries, with the pillars being known in the trade as pilasters.
http://psmv3.blogspot.co.uk/2017/05/views-of-poundbury.html - the newish town of Poundbury can be thought of as one big fake. But the second snap down in this post is a particularly fine effort at faking. Sense of humour even.
http://psmv2.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/sir-gawain.html - the newish Wanamaker Playhouse at the Globe. Perhaps the polite word here is replica rather than fake. With the Globe itself being another replica. With the discomfort of sitting in either place for any length of time being entirely real.
