Tidemark

Tidemark after the heavy rain last week visible on the top of the right hand bank of the stream running down Longmead Road, between Felstead Road and Blenheim Road - this last according to bing maps, actually Roy Richmond Way, for several years now. Gmaps has got it right, so they must be throwing more money at update than Microsoft.

A tidemark which tells us that the stream had nearly been over right hand bank - and this not even the lowest section, with that beyond Blenheim Road being from where it floods onto the road on the left.

A stream which can come up and go down quite quickly after rain hits Epsom Common, maybe six hours to come up and six hours to go down again. Perhaps I ought to suggest a physical geography project to Blenheim High across the way. But then, does such a school still run to physical geography these days? Glaciers, sedimentary rocks, watersheds, artesian wells and all that good stuff.

Back with maps, the orange canteen caravan, which probably dates from the time before Roy Richmond Way was invented and which can be seen behind the willow tree, is also visible in satellite view in both bing maps and gmaps. One caravan which recently became two, plus serious umbrella. Business must be brisk.

See reference 1 for the last notice.
