Fake 6

I have noticed plastic done up as rough sawn timber in this series before. Not to be outdone, BH noticed today that front of the café at which we had just had lunch was boarded with something of the sort, with alternating blue and white planks.

Not caring to examine the front of the café itself at close quarters, I examined the front of the lock-up shed next door, no doubt housing dry goods of some sort or another. The planks turned out to be made of some kind of composite material, about a quarter of an inch thick, with the imitation wood finish stuck on like veneer. A veneer which could, it appeared, come off if sufficiently provoked.

If one did not know better, one would have said that the composite material involved asbestos. It certainly looked as if it did. As it was, we wondered how big a range of colours and lengths the stuff came in. It seemed a bit unlikely that one would be expected to paint it, sawing it to length being quite enough for one day.

PS: the bacon sandwiches in this particular establishment were adequate rather than good. The sort of floured bap which had quite possibly come from Iceland, ditto rather salty bacon. Plus a dab of entirely inappropriate salad with mayo on the side. What on earth is the world coming to?
