Having noticed the open cable box at reference 1 the other day, I took a good look at this one, closed, at the northern end of Longmead Road, on southeast corner of the junction.
Nothing so useful as a telephone number to phone in the event of emergencies, but at least there was enough information to get one and there was an asset tag so that the owner would know which box you were talking about. In this case not BT or Openreach, although it did look very like the other box.
Maybe the industry should come up with some standard which means one can just photograph the asset tag, send it along to some clearing house, which can then process it automatically and send it on to the rightful owner. Maybe all wrapped up in some app (if that is the proper jargon), with the owner of the telephone being incentivised by being entered in some lottery.
But perhaps just the sort of scheme that will fall by the wayside, now that we no longer have the bureaucrats of Brussels to nudge us onto the right path.
