A piece of crumpled cloth retrieved from the eastern hedgerow of Horton Lane. A piece of crumpled cloth which I thought attractively patterned, as did a passing lady of middle years, and we agreed that washed it would be as good as new. She trotted off, smirking to herself. Can't think why.
It is now washed and air dried, with it turning out that the brown speckles, some of which are just about visible if you click to enlarge, were not blood or anything else of that sort, rather a part of the pattern.
While inspection of the hems suggests that it is one of a pair of curtains, with the a possible back story being purchase at the recent Bank Holiday car boot sale at Hook Road Arena, followed by being dropped on the way home. Now neatly folded and awaiting inspiration as to what might be done with it. Perhaps a cloth for one of our smaller tables?
