A study in brown

Otherwise a fragile carbuncle on the top of one of the loaves of the 449th batch of bread. With the loaf not being quite as big as it might appear, being about one third eaten and stood on the cut end in an effort to slow down the drying out.

The other loaf had not risen as much, but neither did it have any carbuncles, blisters or other unsightly defects.

A resumption of defects which seems to have coincided with the use of Allinson's white bread flour. I have now gone back to Leckford Estate flour from Waitrose, but it will take another batch or so to finish the stuff from Allinson.

Furthermore, not only does bread made with their flour come with carbuncles, their website does not respond at all. Perhaps Cortana told it that there was a complaint coming on.
