Perhaps there is a watcher of ITV3 out there who can help.
Why do male television detectives seem to need to exhibit a distinctive and unnatural way of holding themselves and walking? Poirot, Barnaby (with the second being a pale imitation of the first in this respect), Hathaway and Montelbano, to name but four, all exhibit this need. Whereas female television detectives seem to manage without: distinctive and stable personalities that you get to know and get used to - in the way of all four television manifestations of Miss. Marple - yes - but not funny walks. Which I, for one, find tiresome.
