Watergate

Now
A snap of the original Watergate, in Victoria Embankment Gardens, before the people in Washington (DC) got going.

Then
Google turns up this painting of how it would of looked when it was the river entrance to York House, one of the ducal palaces which used to line the Strand. 'York Watergate and the Adelphi from the River, London, by Moonlight, Henry Pether (1800–1880), Museum of London' from Art UK at reference 1.

I am sure I have snapped this gate before, but it is left as an exercise to the reader to find it. For now, anyway.

Next time, I must read the notice attached to see if the thing has been moved at some point. Long way from the river now, as embanked.
