In a bush on the edge of the tidal harbour at Brading. Tendencies to salt marsh. More or less opposite the Pilot Boat Inn. More or less next to the Palmer Memorial Fountain, to which I shall return when my picture of it reaches OneDrive.
About the size and shape of a small thrush. Short straight beak. Slate grey chest. Mixed brown back, not a slab of colour like the chest. Striking black markings on the head. A bit fluffy, maybe a fledgling.
RSPB site, as usual, no help at all. Google, not as usual, not much better. Bing much the same as Google. Noticed here so that I will remember to look it up when I have a proper bird book to look it up in.
