The apples mentioned in the previous post. A pity that I don't remember their name as they were the best apples that I have had this year. Very fresh, quite tart on day one, rather sweeter by day six, that is to say this morning, when I had the last one.
What do the Neal's Yard Dairy people do to be able to sell such fresh apples? Not a trick that they often manage in outdoor markets or supermarkets.
They came with rather splendid brown bags, the sort of thing you used to get from New York grocers. A fitting complement to the rather splendid, small plastic bags you get with your cheese. Bags which I preserve from one visit to the next and use for picnics in-between times.
