Autumn visit

Today was the day for our Autumn visit to the Chessington Garden Centre to see how things there were getting on.

Harbingers of Christmas all present and correct, in the form of boxes of crackers.

I learn that box plants come as yearlings at around £10 for 25 or as more established plants from £15 each upwards - to a hundred pounds or more. I made the executive decision that going anywhere else was not going to come up with the intermediate option I had been looking for, and settled for £10 for 25. A spin-off, in a sense which may be explained in due course, from the quest for yew noticed at reference 1.

General view of the centre included above, with the plant area just about visible through the doors, middle left. Book department, now greatly enlarged, just visible far left. I had had a pencil bet on whether they sold newspapers, a bet which had to be scrubbed, because as while they had the local freebie, the Epsom Guardian, they did not appear to have proper newspapers, and the terms of the bet had not been sufficiently clear on this particular point.
