Medjoul dates

More than two years ago now there was a flood of boxed dates from Iran in Epsom market and we bought a few boxes. Good at first, but one tired of them. They were also apt to go off, ferment even, not having been dried. See reference 1 for what I thought about them at the time.

Today the same stall, or at least the stall occupying the same slot, has kilo boxes of Medjoul dates at around £4.50 each, less than half what Tesco might charge. To eat, somewhere between the dates from Iran and more ordinary dates. But with the big plus, apart from being big, being that they have not been coated with some kind of liquid sugar, a common practise with said more ordinary dates. The sort you might have on the side at Christmas. We will see how we get on these ones.

The box does not tell us much about where these dates came from, not in English anyway. But we are pointed at reference 2 which seems to be rather an odd website. From which a search for dates directs me to sites selling Ukrainian girls and such like, and a site selling a big range of dates - but not these ones. See reference 3. Must consult an internet guru about what is going on here. Are they contraband from some forbidden state?

PS: taking the picture has turned up a telephone oddity. The idea was that you take the picture by tapping the camera button and then look at it by tapping the photos button. But not with this one. The picture is on the computer on which I am typing and is on the telephone if I fiddle about with OneDrive. But it is not handy, it is not where it should be. Have Microsoft been twiddling with the software again or have I mucked up my settings somehow? Will it have appeared by tomorrow, after some silent hours sychronisation?

PPS: it did. On turning the telephone on the following morning, I tapped the photos button and all the missing photos were put in place while I watched.
